Introduction
to Ranch Roping and Stockmanship

Learn about authentic Vaquero ranch traditions!

The Vaquero/Buckaroo ranching traditions are very different from most of today's cattle handling techniques.  The Vaquero traditions bring purpose to horsemanship through real world cattle handling and big loop ranch roping.  In this 6-week series of mini-clinics, you will learn the basics of this proud ranching history.

Justin Fiscus

Justin's experience in the buckaroo traditions runs deep.  He was a Cowboss at the Winecup Gamble Ranch in Elko County, Nevada.  While there, he was responsible for approximately 4,000 head of cattle on half a million acres, running a 4-man cowboy crew.  Roping, branding, and stockmanship were a daily necessity of the job.

On the weekends, Justin participated in big loop ranch roping competitions.  His favorite shots include Houlihan, Turn-Over, and the Del Viento.

Daniel Harris

Daniel finds that the use of a rope is very beneficial in the training of a horse.  And, handling cattle gives a horse purpose to understand the training.  He believes that a horse's foundation should include being able to work a rope and handle cattle.

Daniel's background is in many disciplines, from polocrosse to cutting, which allows him to develop a well-rounded horse that you can go and do a job on.
